How Social Media Helps Quake Victims in Chile

Days ago, the world was startled and gripped again with the sudden earthquake devastation in Chile. No further, it has been one of the major earthquakes recently.

Different rescue measures were given to the quake victims to recover those who are terminally injured. And at the present, there have been newly conceived plans to recover the missing Chileans due to this calamity.

The use of social media has been acknowledged by some journalists, rescuers and by the commoners to find, rescue, or at least share the latest news about the ruin and its survivors.

Social media networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Plurk, Myspace, etc. are mostly used to give the latest news on the killer quake. Data and information will be less complicatedly contributed to the public. Social network users upload images from the aftermath scenes where as Social media sites like Youtube and Livestream updates us with the videos taken either after the quake or in live streaming. Google has freshly launched a site  that is going to be available for aid organizations where people can as well help via Chile Update Page.  This is where people can donate to Unicef or to any other organizations on hand.

Months ago, it was Haiti… Now, it’s Chile. If we had even the slightest effort to help Haiti using Social Media then, I believe we still can do it today. Along with our voluntary aids are our best hopes for Chile’s abrupt revitalization.
